I began this series by creating a drawing using a photographic reference. The second drawing is a blind contour of the first drawing, the third a blind contour of the second, etc. Each drawing became progressively distorted and unlike the original. As a result, these four drawings live in an "in-between" state, caught between the original reference and a definite end. The process of translating this image multiple times is comparable to retelling an old story, or recalling a memory; information shifts with each new version of the original.
